Hey Bryan GREAT thought provoking image but I’m going to disagree with the message. How would it be if we all stopped pretending that as marketing and sales experts we are just ‘being social’ and are making friends with our clients online and fessed up to the fact that we are actually trying to sell to prospective customers. Like you I buy stuff and I love it when people help me find and buy what I want. I only hate marketing when marketers don’t take the time and effort to find out what I’m looking for. Social media no silver bullet, and its not a means for romance either.
I am not sure how you actually disagree with the message then. Deepening relationships with customers has nothing to do with romance. It has to do about establishing a relationship based on trust, transferring knowledge and thus confidence, and the exchange of entusiasm.
