Some people talk about making a difference. Will Williams lives it.
When I sat down with Will for Rock Solid, I expected a conversation about his service, his nonprofit work, and his impact on the Round Rock community. What I got was a masterclass in resilience, purpose, and the power of showing up.
Will doesn’t just run a nonprofit. He is the nonprofit. Share the Will, the foundation he leads, is an unstoppable force in Central Texas, feeding families, providing for veterans, and stepping up whenever there is a need. No paid staff. No bureaucracy. Just a network of 200+ volunteers and an unshakable commitment to doing the work.
His military background is a big part of that. Raised in the foster system until he was 13, Will was adopted by a military family. His father, a Sergeant Major in the 82nd Airborne, signed his enlistment papers before he even knew what hit him. Twenty-six years in service. Multiple deployments. Injuries. Sacrifice. And through it all, a relentless drive to serve.
Now, he pours that energy into Round Rock.
We talked about the thousands of meals they deliver during the holidays. The kids he helps through Step to Success. The veterans he supports with Honor Flight Austin. The people he saves, literally, through his work in suicide prevention.
One moment stood out.
Will told me about driving a shuttle at the airport, something he does to raise money for veteran support programs. A man got on his bus, stared at him, then broke down in tears. He thought Will had died in combat years ago. Will had thought the same about him. Two soldiers, two separate paths, reunited in the most unexpected place.
That is the thing about Will. He is always where he is needed most.
When I asked him where he gets the energy to do all this, he shrugged. “There was one more family that needed me.”
That is Will Williams.
And if you want to be part of something bigger, he makes it simple. Show up. Do the work. If you commit, follow through. Because in Round Rock, service is not just a word. It is a way of life.
You can find Will on Facebook or through Share the Will. And if you stand on a street corner downtown and say his name, someone will find him for you.
Because that is the kind of community he has helped build. Where there is a Will there is a way!
